Avoid COVID-19 Politics: A Blue Collar View

Please Restore Trust and Avoid COVID-19 Politics!

We need to focus on details and get back to work. We aren’t as stupid and fragile as many “experts” seem to think. We need more trustworthy experts and less politics.

Popular media and others, even concerning COVID-19, seem more focused on political agendas and treating us like children than they are on reporting the facts.

I tried to gather important information to help people focus on details that contradict what we are hearing on television. As we prepare to get back to work, we must stop trusting the wrong people for information. I wrote before about misinformation provided by Dr. Anthony Fauci and others. Dr. Fauci seems like a good man but he lost my trust. We seem to need apologies and corrections that can help restore our trust.

I learned plenty as I read NPR information provided April 3, 2020. I decided to provide what I think are some of the most important things I learned. You can trust my plumbing advice. Don’t trust my medical advice until you do your own research and check with your doctors. You might want to read what I learned and then read the lengthy NPR report and see what you think.

“Droplets” are particles larger than 5 to 10 micrometers in size. A 5 micrometer particle is invisible to the naked eye. Droplets are expelled by breathing, speaking, coughing, sneezing and other ways. Even a 5 micrometer particle can easily linger in the air for half an hour before it falls to the floor. If the air isn’t perfectly still particles can stay in the air longer or shorter. ‘These particles get smaller as they evaporate in the air and can travel different distances depending on surrounding air conditions.’  Experts refer to particles 5 micrometer and smaller as “Airborne”. “Droplets” become “Airborne” and possibly travel 23 to 27 feet depending on humidity, temperature AND airflow. Many experts think that even smaller than 5 micrometer sized particles can transmit COVID-19 and other disease.

If you go to the NPR information at this link, dated April 3, 2020, you can gather important details concerning the war against COVID-19.

Linsey Marr (an aerosol scientist at Virginia Tech) and Lydia Bourouiba (an infectious disease transmission researcher at MIT) and other “experts” provide plenty of important information in the April 3, 2020 NPR report.

It seems best to get the best mask or material to make a mask and probably safe googles. Anything seems much better than nothing. Please do your own research and check with your doctors for the best advice. Meanwhile, I recommend wrapping a scarf, bandanna or anything available around your face.

Make or buy a face mask. Use CDC guidelines available at this link.

Many people are and will be dying and getting sick while the CDC and others collect data and decide what is recommended. Many people consider it “common sense” to keep their face and eyes covered. So far, the CDC says face covering protects others from your “droplets”. They still don’t know how far droplets can carry. Smart people will take extra steps to protect themselves and others. Eventually, the CDC will probably figure out that any face cover is much better than none to help capture droplets coming and going.

Precautions should be taken IN and outside the home. Even when testing is available, it is not always 100% correct. For most of us, staying home is the most difficult part of fighting this war against an invisible virus. Perfectly designed Personal protective equipment (PPE) will probably allow us to get back to work.
